WHERE CULTURE LIVES

The "Museum Quarter" is a new concept that stands out by its cultural coherence as well as a strong innovation component. It has been designed to provide a better cultural experience to all visitors, both foreign and domestic, of the beautiful Vila of Cascais.

Throughout the “Museum Quarter”, the memory, tradition and heritage of Cascais are also guaranteed, thanks to the dynamism, talent, innovation and creativity of those who nurture this project with passion.

You will find 12 museums, two parks and countless experiences to embark upon in the village of Cascais. Such as:

CENTRO CULTURAL DE CASCAIS (www.cm-cascais.pt/equipamento/centro-cultural-de-cascais)
Multidisciplinary space dedicated to visual arts. It has an auditorium suitable for hosting conferences, seminars, small music concerts, etc. It also has a nice restaurant with a spacious terrace in the inner courtyard.

CASA DAS HISTÓRIAS (www.cm-cascais.pt/equipamento/casa-das-historias-paula-rego)
Paula Rego chose Cascais to locate her Casa das Histórias, a museum with a project by the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, which exhibits a significant collection of her graphic work and works by her late husband Victor Willing, an artist and art critic. In addition to a regular program of activities at the Maria de Jesus Barroso Auditorium, the space also has initiatives revitalized by the educational service, guided tours and audio guides.

MUSEU CONDES DE CASTRO GUIMARÃES (www.cm-cascais.pt/equipamento/museu-biblioteca-condes-de-castro-guimaraes)
Inside Marechal Carmona Park, the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum is the oldest museum space in the county of Cascais. A remarkable work of romantic architecture, the Tower of S. Sebastião fascinates with its mixture of styles and an enveloping mysticism that makes you dream of stories of other times.

FAROL MUSEU DE SANTA MARTA (www.cm-cascais.pt/equipamento/farol-museu-de-santa-marta)
With the exception of the cannonball found in archaeological excavations, the collection of the Santa Marta Lighthouse Museum was entirely restored and exhibited at the Lighthouse Museum by the Portuguese Navy / Direction of Lighthouses. The exhibition area is divided into two spaces, installed in the old residences of the lighthouse keepers.

PARQUE MARECHAL CARMONA (/www.cm-cascais.pt/equipamento/parque-marechal-carmona)
Park with spacious lawns, beds of herbs and shrubs, a bush with many large trees and paths with a touch of romanticism where once wandered Earls and Viscounts. Every Saturday, the Cascais Biological Market is where you can buy various kinds of organic products after a nice walk.
