Involvement with the Community

The involvement with the community is an equally important role for the hotel: respect, openness to different points of view, the reconciliation of interests and solidarity are the values by which our relationships with the environment. Aware that it can only legitimize its right to exist and succeed, the hotel maintains an attitude of cooperation and dialogue with the community where it belongs.

The Hotel Quinta da Marinha Resort relation with the community is reflected in a number of initiatives. Some Examples:

• In 2008, the Hotel has supported the project "Study Hall" of the “Centro Social Nossa Senhora de Fátima”, a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, in the Bairro do Pinhal Novo, in Estoril. With the renovations of the Hotel, a yard sale was made with the contents of the hotel (for employees) and all the money raised was donated to this "Study Hall". During the closure of the Aqua Meia Praia (Lagos), this initiative was also implemented and the funds raised were delivered to the "Study Hall". With these actions, the hotel managed to support 24 children for one year.
• In early 2007, it was proposed to hotel staff to participate in the “Padrinhos de Portugal”, which supports through continuous sponsorship, extremely poor children in Mozambique. The employees organized themselves so that each department could be a godfather to these children. As a result of this initiative, the Hotel "won" several godchildren in Mozambique, among them, the Timothy, godson of the Golf department at Quinta da Marinha. http://padrinhosdeportugal.blogs.sapo.pt/
• During 2008, the Hotel supported the Association Jerome Usera (AJU), which objective is the integral promotion of the human person and the family, given in particular the most disadvantaged and marginalized. Based in Cascais and being constituted mainly of volunteers, the AJU provides support to many families of the region and various services and activities targeted to the specific needs of different groups that they support - children, youth, adults and elderly. In Christmas of 2008, instead of the usual gifts distributed to clients and friends, and the usual Christmas cards, the group Onyria joined several teams of employees, which painted and equipped the multipurpose field used for games and activities for children that the association supports. AJU was also publicized on the digital postcards of the Onyria Group, in which the Hotel Quinta da Marinha Resort is inserted.
• In the area of donations, the hotel has given special attention to schools and institutions of social solidarity within the vicinity of their hotel units, including homes and institutions in the area of Sintra and Cascais and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos.
