Want to improve your score?
Practice your short game!!! Hello fellow golfers, Certainly you have already asked to your golf pro: “Why can’t I lower my handicap?”,now do this question to yourself: “When I go for practice, how much time do I invest in short game?”, you’ll probably be surprised with your answer! This month´s tip is more like a challenge, make a plan of practice a bit different, so, within your availability and time you have to practice, we are going to use it the best way possible. During the next month, I would suggest you to invest half of your time practicing short game. So, in case you practice, for instance, 3 times a week, one hour each time, try to divide your time like this: And I want you to follow the schedule as it is! Register each time you play, the following: how many putt you had, how many greens you made up & down to save par, how many bunker shots did you made up & down. By the end of the month, check the improvements you got, if not schedule a short game lesson with your pro. Since it’s a chip shot, you don’t have to worry about releasing the club; instead, you want to hold the face square to ensure optimal directional control. This setup position also helps to avoid flubbed chipped shots—one of the most embarrassing and avoidable shots in golf. Use your left arm as a guide for how much lean is needed, and remember to keep the clubface square to the target. It´s important that the shaft and left arm form a straight line that’s all the lean you need otherwise you might top it and you’ll lose consistency. During the stroke, maintain this forward-shaft lean position. You’ll see how easy it is to hit straight and accurate chips more often. To chip with consistency, remember to keep your hands ahead of the golf ball. This will help you control trajectory and spin on shots around the green.
